Our Updated Focus

Posted by Josh on Apr 20th, 2009

Currently, we’re rolling out our updated focus and strategy, which is three-fold:

Everything hinges on the Gospel of Jesus:

  1. To provide Innovative Tools and Resources
  2. To offer Training on how to share the Gospel
  3. To give opportunity to individuals and churches to have missional Experiences

As a part of our updated strategy, we’ll soon be rolling out new marketing materials and website to reflect this update diretion that God has led us to through prayer and seeking Him out.

RESOURCES (Innovative Tools)
At Spread Truth, we recognize there is no greater resource for the local church than the Bible. So, our vision for creating additional resources for the local church is threefold: First, we want to create innovative tools (booklets, websites, etc) to engage non-believers with the Gospel. Second, we want the church to have access to thought-provoking media (via web and print) that speaks to the culture through recognizable themes and language. Finally, we want to develop resources that create opportunities for on-going dialogue between our partner churches and the unbelievers in their community, utilizing technology and any other means available for the sake of the Gospel.

TRAINING (Gospel Centered)
Most churches would agree each believer should be equipped with proper training in the area of evangelism. Yet, the majority of believers do not feel confident sharing their faith with non-believers, and even more have never shared their faith. To address this, several evangelism programs have been created that rely on confrontation or bait-and-switch tactics with nonbelievers. At Spread Truth, we know God works in mysterious and diverse ways, and that’s why we think each believer should be equipped with an authentic means of sharing the Gospel for everyday, spur-of-the-moment life. Our training has been designed to complement this. The Gospel is more than a presentation. It’s a new way to live, which means it’s not just for unbelievers. It’s only through preaching the Gospel first to ourselves that we become effective evangelists. When the Gospel becomes central to our identity, evangelism will flow from our hearts and our mouths.

EXPERIENCES (Missions Opportunities)
Our hope at Spread Truth is that when churches are trained to share the Gospel, it’s more than an academic exercise. So, we’ve developed some short-term mission trips that provide some amazing ways for believers to have conversations with unbelievers. Our primary focus on the trips isn’t to get people saved; instead, we want believers to see the power of the Gospel at work. Sometimes that leads an unbeliever to salvation and we witness the grace of God firsthand; oftentimes, a seed is planted and we praise God. This experience can be vital to each believer’s understanding of the Gospel. We reinforce this philosophy of ministry with all who attend our trips; namely, that these conversations can be held in the context of everyday life using the language of the culture. We think this is just a taste of what it means to be on mission with Jesus and therefore: missional. When local churches are on mission with Jesus then local communities will be transformed.
