Remembering Jeff Riber, Friend and Board Member

With great sorrow we share the news that Jeff Riber, our good friend and faithful board member, went home to Heaven this morning. Jeff’s battle with cancer is now over, although not in the way we had all hoped and prayed. He will be greatly missed.

We will always remember Jeff’s passion for life—a passion that fueled his faith, his work, his relationships, and his fight in illness. That passion could be seen in every aspect of Jeff’s character. We cannot say enough about his integrity, competency, intelligence, generosity, kindness, authenticity, work ethic, and sense of humor. Combined, these traits made Jeff a dear friend, a respected and successful businessman, and a beloved husband and father. Our hearts go out to Jeff’s wife, Lil, and their children Jeffrey (Brooke), Blake (Danielle), and Devon (Mike). Please lift them up in prayer even now.

Over the years, Jeff brought much to this ministry. His financial support, insight and wisdom, and enthusiastic support for Spread Truth have made a lasting impact. Being part of our board was a top priority for Jeff; he willingly and consistently traveled cross country for our meetings and events so he could be a vital member of our leadership team. His ability to quickly and astutely discern business and ministry matters will be remembered and missed.

Jeff’s care for people was evident as he shared the Gospel with people in New York City during our nyc trips and as he hosted Gospel training sessions for his church in Jacksonville. Many have come to know Jesus because of Jeff.

This is why we think of Jeff as we read the letter written to the Hebrew believers. It lists many God-loving and God-fearing people whose lives are detailed in Scripture, people of great faith of whom “the world is not worthy” (Hebrews 11). Jeff is surely one of whom God is not ashamed to claim as His own.

“But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.” –Hebrews 11:16

Thank you, Jeff, for your life, friendship, and love. I look forward to seeing you on the other side. —Jerry
